Almost every mission has bonus objectives, that unlock codex entries describing events that transpired between games. But there are some more inventive missions, like where you're managing a small squad of units or have to fend off enemies attacks while your base suffers from power outages. The gameplay is fun and addictive, most of the missions start with you having to set up your base, then build up enough of the attack units and conquer your enemies. Keep in mind though, that the story requires at least some knowledge of previous games. The story is engaging and the characters are memorable, the ending feels like a good conclusion to the series. Unlike previous games, where one campaign was always canon and the other one was a "What If?" scenario, here their stories happen simultaneously and provide you with new details.
